Roman Peasants & Market 1/72 painted figurines 25mm Strelets set

Here they are, I finished them about two weeks ago, but didn't find the correct time to do the pictures!

They aren't easy to photograph, I am afraid that the pictures are a bit dark, damn it. Anyway, hope you like the set up. They really needed full sun, but I could not stand up to it, even if the weather forecasted a nice drop in the temperatures, it was about 35Âșc plus and could not stand that for a good half and hour of soldier setupping!!

Anyway, these are Roman Peasants and Market life. Plus the single Strelets Senator :P , and a home made figure around. Houses are from a 1/87 Roman fort, there only to give a bit of ambientation.

This was the first time I tried to mix varnish with shadowings. In some I am afraid they became too dark, anyway, now I have more or less got the hang of it, one has to start somewhere :-) . In this way, I save a step. These come about at 84 figures, quite tiring to do! this is the first set where I airbrushed most of the skin colour. However, due to not having mastered yet the airbrush, it was left at half and I finished the other half.

Turkish Cavalry Zvezda Ottoman 1/72 painted soldiers XV

Here is my third project this summer  :-) . I haven't found the time to photograph the civilian romans in all their glory (would require a field trip, ideally) so I photographed the Turkish Cavalry of Zvezda, which I just finished yesterday, after being about 9 years in the making  .

I left them half painted, as I wasn't being very convinced, and I lacked some colours to finish them properly (I believe, it was gold and pink I think).

Anyway, a change of country and 3 removals later, with some damage to them, and more than one battle fought half-painted on wargames , here they are  :-) . I tried to make them very colouristic, but I saw the need for some light inkings-shadowings. I experimented mixing with the varnish, as I didn't wash before the figures, and all the same, Zvezda plastic is so slippery, that without varnishing your work has disappeared before your eyes in no time.

Hope you like them  :P . The Grand Vizier lost an arm in battle, and I had to make due with another Zvezda arm. If I find it, I'll rectify it  :-) .

Roman Hastati & Velites Senate Rome Total War 1/72 HaT 25mm soldiers figures painted

After a few good years without painting ancients, I came back with a small easy project. Had a handful of properly 1/72 Hastati and Velites, and for the fun of it I painted them like the Rome Total War game, the legions that served the "Senate" faction  ;-) . Highly unhistorical I know, but fun  :P .

Soon, I'll take pictures of the roman citizens I just finished, these properly finished with washes and varnish  8) .
